Sony Cybershot DSC-R1 review at DCRP

sony cybershot dsc r1 reviewDCRP has reviewed the Sony Cybershot DSC-R1 digital camera.

The review shows that the DSC-R1 is a revolution in fixed lense cameras. The R1’s lense is by far superior to any other fixed lense camera. The R1 is more expensive than other fixed lense cameras and it is also more expensive then a lot of the ‘real’ digital SLR kits. One must not forget however, that the R1’s F2.8-4.8, 24-120 mm lens is by far superior to any of the standard lenses that come in the dSLR kits.

Here is an extract of the comprehensive review:
“The electronic viewfinder is decent […]. The R1 features full manual controls, as you’d expect. The RAW image format is fully supported […]. One thing missing here is a movie mode […]. Camera performance is better than average in almost all areas.
The photo quality, as I’ve said, is stellar.
The camera’s high ISO performance approaches that of the best consumer-level D-SLRs, and it blows away fixed-lens cameras. At low ISO sensitivities photos are clear as glass, and purple fringing levels are low.
Recommending the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1 is a no-brainer: it’s a great camera.”
