A review of the Sony Cybershot DSC-H5 digital camera is available at dpreview. The Sony Cybershot DSC H5 has a massive 12 times optical zoom lens, supported by optical image stabilization. The Sony DSC H5 is equally suited to camera novices and photography experts, with exposure modes ranging from fully automatic and scene modes to fully manual.
The review verdict:
“There are few cameras I can wholeheartedly recommend to both novice ’snappers’ and experienced photographers, but the H5, like the H2, is that rarest of beasts; a ‘compact’ camera with handling and control close to a DSLR, yet one that - even in inexperienced hands - can be left in ‘idiot-proof’ mode and trusted to produce the goods time and time again. […]
Compared to the most obvious competitors - the Canon S3 IS and Panasonic DMC-FZ7 - the Sony H5 scores highly in handling, features, overall image quality and ease of use, and only really falls short in a couple of areas; burst mode, focus speed in low light (specifically at the long end of the zoom), and the purple fringing. […]
The H2 represents far better value for money than the H5, which is why I still consider it to be the pick of the bunch, but the H5 still offers an awful lot of ‘bang for your buck’.”

Digital Camera Info have published a review of the Sony Cybershot DSC-W100. The ultra compact Sony Cybershot W100 offers 8 megapixel resolution, a 3x optical zoom and a 2.5 display. The Cybershot DSC-W100 offers automatic exposure control, scene modes, as well as full manual controls, which could make it appeal to both camera novices as well as experienced photographers.
The review conclusion:
“Sure, Sony took some shortcuts: its LCD screen has poor resolution, and the Carl Zeiss lens only extends to 3x, which is fast becoming below average. Still, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W100 takes great pictures, which users can control manually or automatically, for a fair price of $349.”

Dpreview have posted a review of the Sony Cybershot H2 ultra zoom camera. The Sony Cybershot DSC H2 is a 6 megapixels dSLR like camera with a 12x optical zoom lens and optical image stabilization. The Cybershot DSC H2 also features an electronic viewfinder and offers the full range of exposure modes, from completely automatic to fully manual.
The results of the review:
“There are few cameras I can wholeheartedly recommend to both novice ’snappers’ and experienced photographers, but the H2, like the H1 before it, is that rarest of beasts […].
The Sony H2 scores highly in handling, image quality and ease of use, and only really falls short in a couple of areas; burst mode, focus speed in low light (specifically at the long end of the zoom) and the slightly underwhelming movie mode. […]
Of the current crop of 5/6 megapixel super zoom cameras the H2 is still, by a whisker, my personal favorite, and is in many respects a better camera than its high profile competitor, the Canon S3 IS.”

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5 ultra zoom camera has been reviewed at Steve’s Digicams. The Sony Cybershot DSC-H5 features 7.2 megapixels optical resolution and is equipped with a 12x optical zoom lens. Optical image stabilization ensures the usability of the long zoom, without worrying too much about blurred image results. With shooting modes suited to both advanced photographers and camera novices, this could be an ideal camera for the whole family.
Here are some of the review impressions:
“Like its predecessor the H1, Sony’s Cyber-shot H5 is a very capable entrant in the megazoom digicam market. Offering 7-megapixels of resolution, a high-quality image-stabilized 36-432mm zoom lens, very good image quality and fairly responsive shooting performance, the H5 offers a compelling combination of quality and versatility. It will please both the beginner and the advanced photographer with its consistently well-exposed and sharp results. […] If you have a need for megazoom focal lengths, the H5 also represents a terrific value; while dSLR image-stabilized long focal length lenses sell for thousands of dollars, the H5 can be had for under $450, image-stabilized zoom lens included.
If you’re looking for a light-weight, stylish, moderately-priced digicam that is versatile enough to handle most family events while getting you close to sports action or wildlife, the SONY Cyber-shot H5 should be high on your list.”

DPInterface have posted a review of the Sony Cybershot S600. The Sony Cybershot DSC-S600 is a 6 megapixel compact digital camera. It features a 3 times optical zoom and records high quality MPEG movies.
Here is part of the review conclusion:
“The camera also features a nice 31 - 93 mm lens which is on the fairly wide side. The lens is fast moving and performance is just as good. Overall performance was better than most of the competition save for continuous shooting. […]
Image quality was very good and the movie mode is one of the best in its class. The Sony Cyber-shot S600 has especially good high ISO performance. The only things which prevent image quality from being “excellent” are red-eye and lack of custom white balance. […]
The Sony Cyber-shot S600 is a nice and compact entry-level camera, overall and I’d recommend it anytime.”

TrustedReviews is one of the first to have reviewed at full production model of the Sony Alpha α100 digital SLR camera rather than a preproduction model. The Alpha a100 is a 10 megapixel dSLR camera packed with technology, such as inbuilt image stabilization which is independent from the lens, as well as an anti dust system.
They write:
“An extremely impressive debut from a new player in the digital SLR market, the Sony Alpha α100 is pitched at the consumer end of the market, but is actually a better camera than most of its mid-range rivals too. It bristles with clever technology, but is very easy to use and produces consistently excellent results. It would be a good camera for a newcomer to SLRs, but more experienced users will also find it very satisfying to use.”
