Recommended.”

samsung sc d6040 duo cam reviewA review of the Samsung SC-D6040 DuoCam digital (video)camera has been published at Steve’s Digicams.

Here is part of the review result:
“The Samsung SC-D6040 DuoCam is a good hybrid MiniDV Camcorder / 4-megapixel digicam that produces high-quality MiniDV movies and good quality still images that can be printed up to 8×10″ size […]. By combining the electronics of both a camcorder and a digicam, each with its own imager and optics, you have the best of both worlds.”

Samsung Digimax V700 review at Steve’s Digicams

Posted by Steve on 7th December 2005

samsung digimax v700 reviewSteve’s Digicams has posted a review of the Samsung Digimax V700 digital camera.

The review verdict:
“The Samsung Digimax V700 was a mixed bag. While it offers a great deal of versatility in exposure modes, an audio-only record feature, and great portrait capabilities, the average image quality and sluggish performance really dampens this model. “

Samsung Digimax V50 review at Steve’s Digicams

Posted by Steve on 7th December 2005

samsung digimax v50 reviewA review of the Samsung Digimax V50 digital camera is available at Steve’s Digicams.

Here is the reviewer’s opinion:
“With its 5-megapixel imager, high quality lens, and host of exposure features, the Samsung Digimax V50 is only an average competitor in the consumer digicam market. It produces good image quality, but suffers a bit from shutter lag, a weak flash, and average low-light autofocus performance.”

Samsung Digimax U-CA 5 review at Steve’s Digicams

Posted by Steve on 7th December 2005

samsung digimax u ca5 reviewSteve’s Digicams has posted a review of the Samsung Digimax U-CA 5 digital camera.

Here is part of the review conclusion:
“The Samsung Digimax U-CA 5 is an affordable compact digicam that produced mediocre results. While it is a speedy performer, I was a little disappointed with the amount of noise present in its 5-megapixel Super Fine images. […] It does offer a good value, especially for those who are just entering the digital world.

Samsung Digimax U-CA 3 review at Steve’s Digicams

samsung digimax u ca3 reviewA review of the Samsung Digimax U-CA 3 digital camera is availalbe at Steve’s Digicams.

The verdict:
“The Samsung Digimax U-CA 3 is a good but not great camera. It’s an easy to use compact digicam with a “cool” avatar feature that will appeal to its intended target market - young digicam users.”

Samsung Digimax V700 review at dpreview

Posted by Steve on 2nd December 2005

samsung digimax v700 reviewA review of the Samsung Digimax V700 digital camera is available at dpreview.

Here is part of the review result:
“[…] This is a camera that can be picked up for just under $330 if you shop around, making it less expensive […] than most of its ‘point and shoot’ competitors […]. And none of these cameras (save for the Sony P200) offers MPEG movies, none of those in a similar price bracket has any real photographic control, and few can capture as much detail.
So if you’re prepared to live with the higher than average noise, occasional exposure problem and shutter lag (the V700’s real Achilles heel) you’ll not find a better price/feature ratio anywhere. Recommended.”

Samsung Digimax V50 review at DCRP

Posted by Steve on 27th November 2005

samsung digimax v50 reviewA review of the Samsung Digimax V50 digital camera has been posted at DCRP.

The V50 is an interesting camera. The 2” LCD screen is quite nice and unlike a lot of other cameras, several different memory cards and battery types are supported, and full manual controls are available as well.

Here is the reviewer’s verdict:
“With a 5 Megapixel CCD, large rotating LCD, manual controls, VGA movie mode, and dual memory card slots, it sounds like the camera to beat in the lower-cost 5MP market. In reality, its photo quality is hit-or-miss and performance is sub par.
Now the bad news. Photo quality, as I said, was not consistent. The camera also lags in the performance department […].
Bottom line: you can do better than the Digimax V50.”

Samsung Digimax i5 review at DCRP

Posted by Steve on 27th November 2005

samsung digimax i5 reviewA review of the Samsung Digimax i5 digital camera is available at DCRP.

Here is an extract of the review result:
“The Digimax i5 isn’t bad for being Samsung’s first ultra thin camera. And while there’s a lot going for it, it had a few annoyances that keep it from being one of the best cameras in this class.
The Digimax i5 is a stylish, ultra thin camera that can go just about anywhere.
The camera has a large, high resolution 2.5″ LCD display, though it’s not terribly visible in low light situations. Camera performance was just okay.
Photo quality was generally very good […] redeye was a problem. “

Samsung Digimax i5 review at imaging resource

Posted by Steve on 13th November 2005

samsung digimax i5 reviewA review of the Samsung Digimax i5 digital camera has just been postet on imaging resource.

The camera is very compact but built solidly. It has a very large display and a very good macro mode.

“The i5 does offer a nice selection of features, from the 11 preset Scene modes to the availability of full manual exposure control in its Night mode. We were pleasantly surprised by the print quality from the Samsung i5, the image noise we saw on-screen not being nearly as objectionable in the final prints, and colors appearing true, accurate, and appealing. […] A very workmanlike subcompact digital camera, and an impressive showing by Samsung in the subcompact arena.”
