A review of the Ricoh Caplio R5 is available at Digital Lifestyles. The Ricoh Caplio R5 offers a strong 7.1 optical zoom lens, supported by vibration reduction, despite its small size. The Caplio R5 also features 7.2 megapixels resolution and a 2.5 inch screen.
Here are some of the review impressions:
“With its impressive 28mm-200mm lens, there’s a lot to like about the R5, and anyone prepared to work with the camera could eek out some high quality shots, although consumers looking for an easy-peasy, point’n’shooter might be frustrated with the camera’s poor low light performance.”

A review of the Ricoh Caplio R5 has been posted at Think Camera. The compact R5 is a 7.2 megapixel camera with an unusual 7.1 optical zoom and a 2.5 inch display. The Caplio R5 offers vibration reduction and, despite its long zoom lens, is capable of producing macro shots with a minimum distance of only 1cm.
The review conclusion:
“This isn’t the smallest camera or the best looking or the easiest to use but the pictures are some of the best we’ve seen from a compact. Don’t let the short feature list put you off, this has everything you need. In the marks below, picture quality has a point docked for the odd shots that came out very badly, the general quality was excellent.”

A review of the Ricoh Caplio RR660 digital camera is available at ThinkCamera. The Ricoh Caplio is a reasonably priced, ultra compact camera with 6.1 megapixels resolution, a 3 times optical zoom lens and a 2.4 inch screen.
The opinion of the reviewers:
“Ricoh have pretty much targeted this camera at the happy snapper who wants an easy to use camera that will give great snaps on holiday at a bargain price. This camera won’t satisfy those who are hyper critical of their pictures or who demand a high level of control but for a cheap compact to capture memories it is simple to use and does the job.”

A review of the Ricoh Caplio R4 is available at DigiCamReview. The Ricoh R4 is very compact 6 megapixel digital camera that offers an amazing 7.1 times optical zoom (focal length of 28-200mm, 35mm equivalent), a large 2.5 inch LCD display, optical vibration reduction and a 1cm macro mode.
The review conclusion:
“When using the camera you do need to be careful that ISO isn’t set to AUTO, otherwise you’ll end up with high noise in photos, but if you can manage to stick to ISO64 or IS100 then you should end up with some great photos - despite the camera having more megapixels - noise doesn’t seem higher than the R3. If having a lot of zoom power in a very compact camera is a priority then this is definitely worth considering. Ricoh are to be commended for innovation in providing such a large amount of zoom with image stabilsation in such a small and speedy camera. The Ricoh Caplio R4 is well worth considering as there are very few alternate digital cameras that offer so much, at such a competitive price.”

Ephotozine have reviewed the Ricoh Caplio R4.
The Ricoh R4 is very compact 6 megapixel digital camera that offers an amazing 7.1 times optical zoom (focal length of 28-200mm, 35mm equivalent), a large 2.5 inch LCD display, optical vibration reduction and a 1cm macro mode.
The review results:
“I really enjoyed using the Ricoh Caplio R4, having a long zoom range like this in such a tiny camera is a lot of fun, especially as it is equivalent to 28mm at the wide end. The price you pay is in the maximum aperture of the lens being only f/3.3-4.8, although in my opinion it is a price worth paying. Also the CCD shift vibration correction is very effective, with good technique long exposures are possible handheld.
I was impressed by the image quality this camera produces. Images are sharp, detailed, colourful and almost completely free of noise when the light levels are good enough to use the lowest ISO setting.”

A review of the Ricoh GR Digital has been posted at Trusted Reviews.
The Ricoh GR Digital is the digital successor of the Ricoh GR, and like its predecessor it has been designed with one goal in mind: image quality. It is a job that the GR Digital does very well, keeping aberrations and purple fringing to a minimum, while offering the experienced photographer plenty of manual settings to optimize and adjust the shooting result even further. The GR Digital has a fixed lens, meaning there is no optical zoom, which makes the camera suitable for the purist advanced photographer who wants uncompromising image quality in a wide angle format.
The Ricoh GR Digital scored 9 out of 10 points overall in this review, with 10 out of 10 points for image quality.
They write:
“Ricoh has produced something unique, a compact camera that will satisfy even the most demanding enthusiast. Its combination of compact portability, robust build quality, superb handling, creative control and fantastic picture quality should make it a firm favourite among keen photographers, especially the travel photographers who loved the original GR film camera. An expensive camera, especially for the whole kit, but well worth the money.”

A review of the Ricoh GR Digital has been published at ephotozine.
The results of the review:
“Personally, I love the no-frills approach Ricoh have taken with the GR Digital. For me stripping down the camera to its basics and concentrating on quality has paid dividends and created a camera that is fun to use, as well as providing excellent clarity. […]
I am impressed by the noise performance at lower ISO settings, and the higher sensitivities are acceptable if you are willing to accept the limitations. […]
In summary the positive points of the Ricoh GR Digital are:
Clarity of images.
Build quality.
No-nonsense design.
Optional wide angle converter.
Macro mode.
The negative points:
Display blackout when using continuous shooting.
Time taken to write RAW images.
Auto white-balance tends to create a strong cyan cast.”
