Posted by Steve on 5th September 2006

pentax optio e10 reviewCameras.co.uk have reviewed the Pentax Optio E10, a compact point and shoot camera. The Pentax Optio E10 offers 6 megapixels resolution, a 3x optical zoom and a 2.4 inch LCD screen.

The verdict of the review:
“In price terms the Pentax Optio E10 is a cheap camera. Despite this I do not feel able to recommend it. When it comes to ease of use you will struggle to find cameras much more straightforward than this one, but it is let down by the quality of photos it takes.”

Kodak Easyshare P712 camera review at Photography Blog

Posted by Steve on 1st September 2006

kodak easyshare p712 reviewPhotography Blog have published a review of the Kodak Easyshare P712 digital camera. The Kodak Easyshare P712 is a dSLR like ultra zoom camera, featuring a 12x optical zoom, supported by optical image stabilization, 7.1 megapixels resolution and a 2.5 inch display. With its automatic, as well as manual shooting modes, the P712 can be used by both camera novices and experienced photographers.

Here are some of the review results:
“The ability to zoom from 36mm up to 432mm and still get sharp results thanks to the image stabilization system is a revelation if you’re used to a camera with a smaller zoom. Everything from mild wide-angle scenics to distant close-ups is possible, all from a camera that you can fit into a small camera bag, and there isn’t too much distortion at either end of the zoom range.”

Kodak EasyShare C663 test at digital camera info

Posted by Steve on 1st September 2006

kodak easyshare c663 reviewDigital camera info have tested the Kodak EasyShare C663, an easy to use entry level camera, equipped with 6.1 megapixels resolution, a 3x optical zoom and a 2.5 inch screen.

The opinion of the reviewer:
“This digital camera has few pros and a lot of cons. It has a nicely sized LCD screen, but poor resolution and a narrow viewing angle. The 6-megapixel Kodak EasyShare C663 has manual control over shutter speed and aperture, but doesn’t have a custom white balance setting. […] In the end, the cons outweigh the pros for the Kodak EasyShare C663 – especially considering the $299 price tag.”

Pentax K100D review at DCRP

Posted by Steve on 1st September 2006

pentax k110d reviewA review of the Pentax K100D dSLR camera is available at DCRP.

The review recommendation:
“With a street price of a little over $600 (with the kit lens), the Pentax K100D is quite a bargain. It doesn’t have the resolution of most of the competition, but it offers solid build quality, great photo quality, and image stabilization for not much money. If you’ve got a Pentax lens collection this camera is a no-brainer, and if you’re buying your first D-SLR then it’s also worth a look.”

Nikon D80 review at ephotozine

Posted by Steve on 31st August 2006

nikon d80 reviewEphotozine have reviewed the Nikon D80 dSLR camera. The Nikon D80 complements the dSLR range and sits between the Nikon D70 and the professional Nikon D200. Well priced, the Nikon D80 is equipped with a 10.2 megapixel image sensor, a 2.5 inch LCD screen and can capture up to 3 frames per second.

The review impression:
“Like the D100-200 upgrade before it, this upgrade from the D70 to D80 is a worthwhile step up, both in ability and performance. The jump in pixel count and autofocus ability alone warrants the change, but there are literally dozens of other tweaks as you delve further into the menus. The price also seems to be pitched about right, although market forces will soon see it settle into a slightly lower slot, which is all good news. Highly recommended.”
