Nikon Coolpix L3 review at Bytesector

Posted by Steve on 14th June 2006

nikon coolpix l3 reviewBytesector have published a review of the Nikon Coolpix L3 digital camera. The Nikon Coolpix L3 is an entry level point and shoot camera with 5 megapixels resolution, a 3 times optical zoom and a 2 inch LCD display.

The review conclusion:
“This well-thought-out camera builds on the expertise that Nikon has. The L3 was designed on proven technologies that help you take better pictures. Daytime photography offered few difficulties, shooting at night wasn’t any worse than average, and the flash was generally cooperative. With its competitive price, I would recommend anyone picking up a camera to spend some time with the L3 and get a feel for what it can do.”

Nikon Coolpix S6 review at DigiCamReview

Posted by Steve on 13th June 2006

nikon coolpix s6 reviewA review of the Nikon Coolpix S6 digital camera is available at DigiCamReview. The Nikon Coolpix S6 is an ultra compact camera in a stylish, all metal body. The S6 is equipped with 6 megapixels resolution, a 3x optical zoom, a large 3 inch screen, as well as built in wireless connectivity.

The review conclusion:
“[…] The Nikon Coolpix S6 is noticably let down by the lens, as it produces vignetting, distortion, soft corners, and soft edges, so no matter how much post-processing goes on, the image quality will always be a weak point of this camera. Add to that, the very high red-eye in indoor photos, that isn’t removed by the built in red-eye reduction, and the image quality problems start mounting up. Overall image quality is very hit and miss, one photo will come out looking great, (particularly macro photos), whereas another photo will come out looking awful (the worst photos were left out of the gallery). If image quality was up there with the rest of the cameras features and abilities then this would be recommended, however, as it stands with image quality so hit and miss, it’s very difficult to recommend this camera.”

Nikon Coolpix S6 review at DigitalCameraInfo

Posted by Steve on 13th June 2006

nikon coolpix s6 reviewA review of the Nikon Coolpix S6 digital camera is available at DigitalCameraInfo. The Nikon Coolpix S6 is an ultra compact, 6 megapixel camera with a 3 times optical zoom lens and a very large 3 inch display. The display has a large viewing angle and is bright enough to view photos in bright light conditions. The Coolpix S6 also offer WiFi wireless network connectivity, allowing you to transfer photos without the need for cables.l

The conclusion of the review:
“The Nikon Coolpix S6, with its sexy all-metal body and big screen, offers some very nice features but still has the “small camera syndrome.” Symptoms include poor handling from overall tiny size, automatic modes, blurry pictures, a weak flash, and a body sexier than its true functionality.[…]

Overall, the WiFi-enabled Nikon Coolpix S6 does have a great body and good features, but lacks good image quality. The provocative S6 retails for $399.”

Nikon Coolpix S6 review at DCRP

Posted by Steve on 9th June 2006

nikon coolpix s6 reviewDCRP have published a review of the Nikon Coolpix S6 digital camera. The Nikon Coolpix S6 is an ultra compact 6 megapixel camera in a metal body with a 3 times optical zoom and a very large 3 inch TFT display. The Coolpix S6 also features wireless network connectivity.

The review conclusion:
“The S6 has a bevy of point-and-shoot features (and only one manual feature — white balance). If you like scene modes then you’ll be pleased with this camera: it has sixteen of them, including four “assist” modes which go out of their way to help you take a great shot. […] The Coolpix S6 won’t win any awards for its photo quality. While photos were well-exposed, I found colors to be oversaturated at times and just plain wrong at others. […]

Overall I was a bit disappointed with the Coolpix S6. Sure, it looks cool, and some of the features are really handy. But the bottom line is that photo quality is not as good as other ultra-compacts, and it has more flaws to boot.”

Nikon Coolpix L4 review at cameras.co.uk

Posted by Steve on 2nd June 2006

nikon coolpix l4 reviewA review of the compact, entry level Nikon Coolpix L4 digital camera is available at cameras.co.uk. The Nikon L4 is equipped with 4 megapixel resolution, a 3 times optical zoom and a 2 inch LCD display.

The review results:
Points I like:
Ease of use
No red eye in test shot
Outdoor landscape type shots

Where it is not so hot:
Indoor shots
Shutter lag

Summary
The Nikon Coolpix L4 is certainly an option if you are looking for a very simple digital camera at a reasonable price. I cannot describe it as the perfect digital camera, but it is capable of taking a good photo. As with many cameras in this price bracket it is a lot happier outdoors in good light then it is indoors where the light is low. Shutter lag is also a definite problem.”

Nikon Coolpix L2 review at ephotozine

Posted by Steve on 28th May 2006

nikon coolpix l2 reviewEphotozine have posted a review of the Nikon Coolpix L2 digital camera. The Nikon Coolpix L2 is an easy to use, entry level digital camera with 6 megapixels resolution, a 3 times optical zoom and a 2 inch LCD display. The L2 is less than 1 inch thick and fits easily into any pocket, making it an ideal take everywhere camera.

The review result:
“Despite the basic controls and sluggish, I managed to get images I am pleased with out of the Coolpix L2. The quality of the images it produces are more than a match for cameras costing almost double. The logical menu system makes the camera very easy to operate, and the anti-reflective screen is a joy to use, even if it isn’t the biggest available.

If you are on a budget, but don’t want to compromise on image quality, the Coolpix L2 should not disappoint.”
