Kodak EasyShare V610 review at CNet

Posted by Steve on 4th May 2006

kodak easyshare v610 reviewA review of the Kodak EasyShare V610 digital camera is available at CNet.
The Kodak EasyShare V610 is compact dual lens digital camera offering a 10x optical zoom by combining 2 lenses in the same camera body. This is the second dual lens camera Kodak has developed, after the V570. The Kodak V610 lenses cover focal range of 38-114mm and 130-380mm, 35mm equivalent.

The Kodak V610 scored 7.4 out of 10 points, a ‘very good’ result.
The review conclusion:
The good: Small size for 10X optical zoom; innovative dual-lens design; plenty of scene modes; in-camera panorama stitching.

The bad: Average image quality; no image stabilization; few manual controls; no manual white balance.

The bottom line: As one of the only pocketable cameras with a 10X zoom lens, the Kodak EasyShare V610 is on the cutting edge of design; we just wish the image quality were better.”

Kodak Easyshare V570 review at PhotographyBlog

kodak easyshare v570 reviewThe Kodak Easyshare V570 digital camera has been reviewed at PhotographyBlog.
The Kodak Easyshare V570 is a 5 megapixels ultra compact camera with a 3 times optical zoom. The Easyshare V570 combines 2 lenses, one ‘normal’ zoom lens and one ultra wide lens. Despite its two lens, two image sensor system the V570 has got a very sleek design. With its large amount of scene modes it is aimed at the point and shoot photographers who seek the flexibility of a zoom and an ultra wide angle camera in one package.

The V570 scored 4 out of 5 points.
The review results:
“Using such a small camera with such a wide zoom range opens up lots of photographic opportunities that you just won’t get with similar sized models. […] The 5 megapixel sensor is modest in this day and age, but more than adequate for prints up to A4 in size. Image quality is only average, with noticeable noise and blurring at ISOs 200 and 400, which means that the V570 is best suited to situations with adequate lighting, especially if you want to make larger prints. […] Kodak have gone to great lengths to make the V570 easy to use, with a wealth of playback and sharing options available. Overall, despite only average image quality and some elements of slow operation, the Kodak Easyshare V570 is an intriguing and fun to use digital camera.”

Kodak EasyShare Z650 review at dpreview

kodak easyshare z650 reviewA review of the Kodak EasyShare Z650 digital camera is available at dpreview. The Kodak EasyShare Z650 is a 6 megapixel ultra zoom camera, offering a 10x optical zoom lens and a 2 inch LCD display. Despite its low price, the EasyShare Z650 offers a variety of exposure options, including fully automatic and fully manual exposure settings, as well as a large number of pre-set scene modes.

The results of the review:
“Like its predecessor it’s actually a very nice camera, and an easy and (usually) enjoyable one to use, and the color is typical Kodak - rich, vivid and generally very accurate. It’s also very compact, has excellent photographic controls and is very easy to use. […]

Taken on its own the Z650 is a perfectly good camera, one capable of perfectly good results, and one that offers perfectly good value for money. Unfortunately perfectly good just isn’t enough in a market this competitive, and the Z650 suffers by comparison to some of its competitors, and because in attempting to ‘dumb down’ the feature set of the DX line Kodak cut too many important features without offering much in exchange. I’m sure it will sell well (Kodak is no small player in this market), and I’m sure those who buy it will be perfectly happy, but I would certainly look at the alternatives before handing over my money for the Z650.”

Kodak EasyShare V610 review at digital trends

kodak easyshare v610 reviewA review of the Kodak EasyShare V610 digital camera is available at digital trends.

The results of the review:
“This one is a toughie. The EasyShare V610 has a number of features that make it attractive: looks, thinness, a 10x optical zoom, built-in Bluetooth and Perfect Touch technology. I really have problems with the LCD screen and the hiccough as the camera “hands off” from one zoom lens to the other. And the camera is pretty slow saving images to the card; overall image quality was average, nothing to write home about with more noise that you should expect from a 2006 digicam.

Pros:
* Thin 10x optical zoom digicam
* Bluetooth enabled
* Built-in Perfect Touch correction
* Easy to use, setup

Cons:
* Zooms “skips” from one lens to the other
* Poor LCD screen in bright sunlight
* Only 135 shots per charge
* Slower response than competitors
* No compression options
* Few manual controls”

Kodak Easyshare V570 review at Digicam Review

Posted by Steve on 12th April 2006

kodak easyshare v570 reviewDigicam Review have tested the Kodak Easyshare V570 digital camera.

The Easyshare V570 is a stylish, ultra compact digital camera with 5 megapixel resolution and a large 2.5 inch LCD monitor. It is also currently the only digital camera that is equipped with 2 lenses and 2 image sensors, giving it a unique 23-117mm focal length, 35mm equivalent.

The review results:
“The Kodak Easyshare V570 is a unique ultra compact 5 megapixel digital camera - featuring two lenses: an ultra-wide angle lens, and a normal 3x optical zoom lens. If you want a fun. easy to use, ultra compact digital camera with an ultra-wide angle lens, and intend to take mainly outdoor photos, then this camera may be a good choice. The camera offers generally quick performance, and extremely quick focusing and shutter response when using the ultra-wide angle lens. Image quality indoors was one of the camera’s weaknesses, as the camera had problems focusing in low-light when using the zoom, red-eye regularly occured, and noise was quite high. Outside image quality was better, as images had good colour, saturation, contrast and exposure, but images were generally soft. If an ultra-wide angle lens is a must, then your choice is definitely limited, however I’d recommend thinking carefully before purchasing this camera, especially if you take a lot of indoor photos of people, as the camera regularly failed to focus correctly.”

Kodak EASYSHARE V570 review at Hardwarezone

Posted by Steve on 3rd April 2006

A review of the Kodak EASYSHARE V570 digital camera has been posted at Hardwarezone.

The Kodak V570 is the world’s first digital camera to combine 2 lenses and two 5 megapixel image sensors into one camera. The result is an impressive focal length ranging from 23mm to 117mm, 35mm equivalent and offers wide angle shooting like no other compact digital camera.

The review verdict:
“[…] For its diminutive dimensions, multiple scene modes, dual-lens and all-round decent performance, the Kodak EASYSHARE V570 is an attractive portable imaging package, even though it is using a smaller pair of 5.0-megapixel CCD image sensors rather than the newer 8-megapixel variants. Remember, Megapixel count isn’t everything and there’s more to it than just numbers, just like how Megahertz is to modern CPUs.”

kodak easyshare v570 reviewA review of the Kodak V570 digital camera has been posted at Photoxels.

The result of the review:
“The Kodak EasyShare V570 Dual Lens is a one-of-a-kind digital camera that gives well exposed, good to very good quality images straight out of the camera. Its ultra-wide angle lens should be a major selling point for many who desire or require that wide coverage. It is very easy to use and, paired with the optional Printer Dock Plus Series 3 printer, you have One-Touch facility in transferring images to your PC and printing 4×6 in. prints in the convenience of your home.”

kodak easyshare v550 reviewA review of the Kodak EasyShare V550 digital camera is available at xyzcomputing.

The review results:
“The V550 does not offer anything ground-breaking, but it is an attractive product with the features most people are interested in. The camera is very easy to use, possibly leaning a bit too much towards the entry-level, but has a built quality and style that allows it to compete with some of the best cameras in the segment.

The V550 was clearly designed to compete with cameras like Canon’s PowerShot SD400. […]The Kodak lacks the distinction and tweaking with Canon has been able to work into it models- the V550’s image quality, battery life, and macro capilities are all a bit behind. The price of the Kodak gives its a considerable advantage over the Canon models, though it will still be a tough choice considering the brand name and refinement which Canon brings to the table.”

kodak easyshare c360 reviewCameras.co.uk have posted a review of the Kodak Easyshare C360 digital camera.

The verdict:
“There is a lot to like about the Kodak Easyshare C360. It is very easy to use and the build quality appears to be a bit better than you normally find in digital cameras around this price bracket. The photographs it produces have very strong colours, but it does have a weakness indoors and in lowlight situations.”

The review conclusion:
“There are a number of five megapixel, pocket sized digital cameras to choose from The Kodak Easyshare V550 should be included on your shortlist. I like the standard of photos the camera took. Shutter lag should not be an issue and all in all the camera is pretty straightforward.”
