Kodak EasyShare V610 review at DigitalCameraInfo

Posted by Steve on 23rd May 2006

kodak easyshare v610 reviewA review of the Kodak EasyShare V610 digital camera is available at DigitalCameraInfo. The Kodak Easyshare V610 is a compact digital camera that is equipped with 2 separate lenses which results in the world’s smallest 10x optical zoom. The Kodak V610 is also offers 6.1 megapixel resolution and a very large 2.8 inch LCD display. In addition to Kodak’s standard Easyshare technology, the V610 also features Bluetooth, so that photos can be transferred wirelessly.

The review conclusion:
“The V610 has some very enticing features: its 10x optical zoom, available in both still and video modes, provides a long focal length in a skinny 0.9-inch thick body, making the V610 the slimmest 10x camera on the market.
The camera’s biggest performance issues are substantial shutter lag, terribly slow processing time, and a very short battery life. Its other major downfall is the zoom control on the 10x lens system: when going from the wide lens to the telephoto lens, users have to jump from 114mm to 130mm. […]
The Kodak EasyShare V610 is a great concept with its 6 megapixels, 10x dual lens system, and Bluetooth compatibility, but it just doesn’t deliver.”

kodak easyshare z650 reviewThe Kodak EasyShare Z650, a reasonably priced 10x optical zoom camera with 6.1 megapixels resolution and a 2 inch LCD monitor, has been reviewed at LetsGoDigital.

The review verdict:
“We can be concise about the final results: they are pretty good. The image quality is good and the automatic white balance generally works well. The colours look realistic and powerful and the portrait setting also gives good results with very natural skin tones. Moreover, the camera has an all round character for the snap shot photographer with its large optical range. The Schneider Kreuznach Variogon zoom lens does what you would expect of a lens from such a renowned brand.”

kodak easyshare v610 reviewA review of the Kodak EasyShare V610 digital camera has been published at PCMag. The compact Kodak Easyshare V610 is the worlds smallest 10 times optical zoom camera, featuring two lenses with a combined focal length of 38-114mm and 130-380mm, 35mm equivalent. The Kodak V610 is also equipped with 6.1 megapixel resolution a very large 2.8 inch LCD display and wireless Bluetooth.

With a score of 3 out of 5, the Kodak V610 achieved a ‘good’ rating.

The results of the review:
Bottom Line: The Kodak EasyShare V610 blurs the boundaries between ultracompacts and superzooms. But it needs to focus a little more on quality—and it could focus better at extreme zoom settings, too.

Pros: Very sleek. Nice video features, with MPEG-4 encoding. Cool Bluetooth features.

Cons: Expensive. Mediocre picture quality. Some autofocus problems.”

The Kodak P880 is an 8 megapixel dSLR like camera, which means the camera body is similar to a digital SLR camera but the lens is not interchangeable. Speaking of the lens, Kodak has equipped the P880 with a very interesting wide angle lens with a focal length of 24-140mm, 35mm equivalent, as well as a 5.8x optical zoom.

Here is a summary of the review:
“The 2.5 inch LCD monitor is very pleasant to work with. […]
In particular the image quality of the Kodak EasyShare P880 and the quality of the lens are the things I am very enthusiastic about. The Kodak P880 is a real wide-angle which is ideal for landscape imaging as well as in-house imaging. […]
If you are looking for a digital camera with an exquisite quality at low sensitivities and a wide angle, the Kodak P880 is a good choice. Taking good pictures, just plain and simple, that is Kodak P880’s specialty.”

With 4.5 out of 5 points, the V610 achieved a very positive review result.
The review conclusion:
“The Kodak Easyshare V610 is a tremendously innovative digital camera that brings a lot of new, exciting and effective features to the consumer. […] The large 2.8 inch LCD screen is one of the best that I have ever seen, with a high resolution giving plenty of detail and also being visible even in bright sunlight. […]
The Kodak V610 is not perfect, however, with image quality and the lack of image stabilisation being the main problems. […]
Ultimately all this doesn’t stop me from strongly recommending the V610. A 10x zoom lens in a stylish pocket camera, together with great ease-of use, a brilliant LCD screen, wireless support and a wealth of playback and sharing options is a combination that is hard to ignore.”

Kodak EasyShare V570 review at LetsGoDigital

Posted by Steve on 7th May 2006

kodak easyshare v570 reviewThe Kodak EasyShare V570 digital camera has been reviewed at LetsGoDigital. The Kodak Easyshare V570 is a 5 megapixels ultra compact camera with a dual lens design and a 3x optical zoom. The 2 lenses, one ‘normal’ zoom lens and one ultra wide lens, allow you to capture a wider area than other cameras. With its large amount of scene modes it is aimed at the point and shoot photographers who the flexibility of a zoom and an ultra wide angle camera in one package.

They write:
“The dual-lens system offers potential, and will appeal instantly to a certain share of consumers. It should be said, however, that the system has not yet fully matured, which leaves Kodak room for improvement. The operation is as one would expect of a Kodak EasyShare digital camera; straightforward and with the emphasis on user-friendliness. The negative sides of this camera seem to be evened out by its plus points. Therefore, we give Kodak the benefit of the doubt, and appreciate the concept that has brought attention to the Kodak EasyShare V570; the world’s first digital compact camera with a dual-lens system.”
