The Nikon Coolpix L1 is a compact digital camera that is aimed at the entry level market. It features 6.2 megapixel resolution, an impressive 5 times optical zoom and a large 2.5 inch LCD Monitor. It offers a large range of scene modes but no manual control and will therefore mainly appeal to the point and shoot photographers.

The Nikon Coolpix 4600 is a basic point and shoot camera with 4 megapixel resolution, that is easy to use and suitable for digital photography beginners. Unlike its bigger brother, the Coolpix 5600, the 4600 does not record sound when in movie mode.
