Casio Exilim EX-Z850 review at Popular Photography

Posted by Steve on 5th September 2006

casio exilim ex z850 reviewThe Casio Exilim EX-Z850 has been reviewed at Popular Photography. The ultra compact Casio EX-Z850 is equipped with 8.1 megapixels resolution, a 2.5 inch LCD and a 3x optical zoom lens. Equipped with an anti shake feature to reduce image blur, as well as both automatic and manual exposure modes, the Z850 may be a take anywhere camera that can be used by the whole family.

The review impression:
“Despite resolution numbers that are low for its class, and a limited usable ISO range, the Casio Exilim EX-Z850 does a lot of things right. The enthusiasts in the family will love the manual controls, while the kids will love the ease of use and fun best shot modes. With its combination of fun and functional features in a pocket-sized package, this could be one compact camera to make the whole family happy.”

Ricoh Caplio R5 review at Think Camera

Posted by Steve on 5th September 2006

ricoh caplio R5 reviewA review of the Ricoh Caplio R5 has been posted at Think Camera. The compact R5 is a 7.2 megapixel camera with an unusual 7.1 optical zoom and a 2.5 inch display. The Caplio R5 offers vibration reduction and, despite its long zoom lens, is capable of producing macro shots with a minimum distance of only 1cm.

The review conclusion:
“This isn’t the smallest camera or the best looking or the easiest to use but the pictures are some of the best we’ve seen from a compact. Don’t let the short feature list put you off, this has everything you need. In the marks below, picture quality has a point docked for the odd shots that came out very badly, the general quality was excellent.”

Samsung NV3 test at Digital Camera Review

Posted by Steve on 5th September 2006

samsung NV3 reviewDigital Camera Review have tested the Samsung NV3, a stylish, ultra compact digital camera equipped with 7 megapixels resolution, a 3 times optical zoom and a 2.5″ display. The Samsung NV3 also doubles up as a media player that plays MP3 music and videos.

The review results:
“The NV3 takes good pictures, but its main point of difference is the personal media player capabilities. Once you have a high capacity memory card, you can take your mp3s and videos with you. You no longer have to carry your ipod and your camera!
While image quality, in my opinion, is average, the multimedia capabilities of the camera are attractive, so make sure you consider them if you’re considering this camera.”

The verdict of the review:
“In price terms the Pentax Optio E10 is a cheap camera. Despite this I do not feel able to recommend it. When it comes to ease of use you will struggle to find cameras much more straightforward than this one, but it is let down by the quality of photos it takes.”

Kodak Easyshare P712 camera review at Photography Blog

Posted by Steve on 1st September 2006

kodak easyshare p712 reviewPhotography Blog have published a review of the Kodak Easyshare P712 digital camera. The Kodak Easyshare P712 is a dSLR like ultra zoom camera, featuring a 12x optical zoom, supported by optical image stabilization, 7.1 megapixels resolution and a 2.5 inch display. With its automatic, as well as manual shooting modes, the P712 can be used by both camera novices and experienced photographers.

Here are some of the review results:
“The ability to zoom from 36mm up to 432mm and still get sharp results thanks to the image stabilization system is a revelation if you’re used to a camera with a smaller zoom. Everything from mild wide-angle scenics to distant close-ups is possible, all from a camera that you can fit into a small camera bag, and there isn’t too much distortion at either end of the zoom range.”
