Olympus FE-110 review at cameras.co.uk

Posted by Steve on 28th February 2006

olympus fe 110 reviewThe Olympus FE-110 digital camera has been reviewed at cameras.co.uk.

According to the review the Olympus FE-110 is easy to use and comes with a good amount of internal memory. It is also comes with a very low price tag.
On the other hand the FE-110 can only offer a small LCD display, uses batteries quickly and cannot produce convincing indoor pictures.

The review result:
“Whether or not the Olympus FE-110 is a good buy or not will depend on how you plan to use the camera. If you are planning to use the camera more or less exclusively outdoors then I would say it offers good value for money. If you are looking for indoor shots as well you are probably best advised to spend a little more and take a look elsewhere.”

nikon d2x reviewA review of the Nikon D2X digital camera has been published at LetsGoDigital.

The review verdict:
“[…] A beautiful, large dynamic range, fine plasticity and a beautiful colour reproduction. Photos that will gain your employer’s full approval and satisfaction. The resolution is high and delivers images with rich details. The JPEG images are clean and almost completely free of artifacts. Working with a digital work-horse like the Nikon D2X is heaven, especially for the photo-freak and the devoted professional photographer. Swift startup, reliability, robust built, clear ergonomics, perfect image control and quality, large display are all elements that are necessary for a powerful digital tool with which the professional photographer can reach its target. In short, the Nikon D2X is a professional universal digital reflex camera that will appeal to many photographers. In the end we can be very short about the D2X; it’s a fantastic camera. An absolute hit!”

Fujifilm FinePix F30 first impression at DigitalCameraInfo

fuji finepix f30.JPGreviewA first impressions review of the Fujifilm FinePix F30 digital camera is available at DigitalCameraInfo.

The initial comments:
“The camera’s sensor and imaging processor claim to produce much less noise than the F10, which has already proven itself to produce little noise. The results are not yet final, but we have high expectations for the Fuji F30.
It comes with an ISO 3200 rating and is the first consumer point-and-shoot digital camera to do so. […]
So far, the Fujifilm FinePix F30 looks like a strong pocket camera […]”

Fujifilm Finepix E900 review at DigitalCameraReview

Posted by Steve on 28th February 2006

A review of the Fujifilm Finepix E900 digital camera is available at DigitalCameraReview.

The reviewer’s opinion:
“In my opinion, the E900’s most serious competition is Canon’s superb A620. The A620 is in virtually every area of consideration other than native resolution (the difference between 7 and 9 megapixels is much less obvious than the difference between 4 and 5 megapixels), a better imaging tool than the E900. So, unless you need the few extra millimeters of wide-angle coverage or plan to enlarge lots of your images to poster size, my recommendation is to buy the A620. You’ll end up with a better camera and save yourself some money.”

Canon PowerShot SD430 review at DCRP

Posted by Steve on 27th February 2006

canon powershot sd430 reviewThe Canon PowerShot SD430, also known as the Canon Ixus Wireless, has been reviewed at DCRP.

Here is part of the review conclusion:
“The Canon PowerShot SD430 Digital ELPH Wireless is an ultra-compact camera with all the features you’d expect from an ultra-compact, plus one more: wireless functionality. In fact, the Wi-Fi feature is the only thing that sets it apart from the other cameras in Canon’s SD-series, and it commands a $100-200 price premium over the other Digital ELPHs. Is it worth it? Well, that depends on your needs. […]

The camera starts up quickly and shutter lag and shot-to-shot times are minimal. […]
Photo quality was very good. The SD430 took well-exposed photos with accurate color, good sharpness, and low purple fringing.”

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M2 review at Steve’s Digicams

Posted by Steve on 27th February 2006

sony cybershot dsc m2 reviewA review of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M2 digital (video)camera has been posted at Steve’s Digicams.

The result of the review:
“The Sony Cyber-shot M2 is a bit of an enigma. It’s capable of producing high-quality 5-megapixel stills, but its indoor results are limited by its underpowered flash. Although billed as a hybrid still/movie camera, Sony failed to endow the M2 with high-quality movie features. The standard movies suffer from the graininess of over compression, and its hybrid movies are low resolution, low frame rate, and interrupted by still image capture. For a first attempt, the M2 hybrid is an interesting exercise, but it falls short of expectations.”

Olympus EVOLT E-500 at DigiCamReview

Posted by Steve on 27th February 2006

olympus evolt e 500 reviewThe Olympus Evolt E-500 has been reviewed at DigiCamReview.

The review result:
“This is an impressive digital SLR camera, offering excellent image quality, an excellent range of lenses with very precise manual zoom control. The screen is good, and the camera can produce excellent photos - although be aware that in low light situations, you have to sacrifice one of either shutter speed, or iso (and therefore greater noise), or reduce resolution. If you can stick with the lower ISO settings and you want high quality large images then this camera should be high on your shopping list. This camera is easy to use (in auto mode) and offers speedy performance, excellent battery life, with good controls and excellent build quality. I would recommend this camera especially to people who want greater creative control that normal compact digital cameras generally do not provide.”

Pentax Optio T10 frist impressions review at DigitalCameraInfo

Posted by Steve on 27th February 2006

pentax optio t10 reviewA first impression review of the Pentax Optio T10 digital camera is available at DigitalCameraInfo.

The preliminary results:
“With an intuitive menu structure, manual control options which are accessible to the beginner, playback features that should entertain and a 2.5-inch LCD with a touch screen interface, the Pentax Optio T10 certainly looks to be a strong competitor in the new touch screen market.[…]

The playback mode effects, while a bit cheesy, are certainly amusing to play with, and who hasn’t honestly wanted to apply giant red lips to their nearest and dearest. With this host of features and controls available, all with quick and ready menu interfaces and logical structure, it will be up to the T10’s optical performance during our full review to really make or break this camera.”

Sanyo Xacti HD1 review at Steve’s Digicams

Posted by Steve on 26th February 2006

sanyo xacti hd1 reviewA review of the Sanyo Xacti HD1 digital (video)camera is available at Steve’s Digicams.

The result of the review:
“The Xacti VPC-HD1 was a blast to use. I love how well it fits in your hand, and is still small enough that you can tuck it away easily. Although the image quality could be a bit better, the awesome movie mode, versatile lens and gorgeous OLED display make up for it. With an MSRP of around $800 we feel it’s too expensive and may well only be attractive to “techno-geeks” who absolutely must have the latest hi-tech gadgets. We feel it will be an entertaining choice, just be sure to purchase a 1GB or larger SD card - it’s totally necessary.”
