DCRP has posted a review of the Kodak EasyShare P850 digital camera.
Here is an abbreviated version of the review conclusion:
“This is Kodak’s first camera with image stabilization […]. The P850 has features that beginners and enthusiasts will like. Camera performance was a mixed bag. Photo quality on the P850 was good for the most part.
Although I think there are better ultra zoom cameras out there, the P850 is absolutely worth a look.”

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1 digital camera has been reviewed at dpreview.
Here is an extract of the review conclusion:
“At $1000 you simply can’t get close to the coverage and quality of that lens. Add to that the usable high sensitivities, great build quality, a package which is ‘all in one’, resolution just better than an EOS 350D and final results which can be extremely good indeed.
Highly recommended.”

A review of the Casio Exilim EX-Z110 digital camera is available at Cameras.co.uk.
The review verdict:
“The Casio EXILIM EX-Z110 certainly offers a very cheap route into digital cameras with manual exposure modes. The specification is impressive for the price and shutter lag is more or less non existent. […] I would like to have seen much sharper images. The camera also struggles in lowlight.”

“The Olympus IR-500 is a competent 4-megapixel camera with a limited zoom range, but its 2.5-inch high-resolution LCD and playback capabilities will make you want to tote it everywhere as a portable shoot-and-show display.”

“If you are interested in panoramic photography, but also want to take “normal” images, then the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 is the only choice at the moment.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 is almost the perfect, carry-anywhere compact digital camera. Except for one big problem. Noise. The optical image stabilisation system partially makes up for the noise problems […]. ”

“If you do not want to spend a fortune on a digital camera, but you are still looking for image quality then buy the Panasonic DMC LZ1.
