Posted by Steve on 31st December 2005

nikon d200 reviewA review of the Nikon D200 digital camera has been posted at DigitalCameraReview.

Here is part of the review conclusion:
“The Nikon D200 delivers excellent 10 megapixel images, and it’s easy for the experienced photographer to operate. It’s an excellent step-up camera for photographers buying a second Nikon DSLR, or for experienced film users who are finally jumping to digital (do such people still exist?). […]
With the D200, Nikon delivers a solid performer. Canon, in contrast, keeps on delivering surprising cameras […].
In short, Nikon has delivered an excellent camera, but has still left the headlines to Canon.”

Sony DSC-N1 review at DCRP

Posted by Steve on 31st December 2005

sony%20cybershot%20dsc n1 reviewA review of the Sony DSC-N1 digital camera is available at DCRP.

Here is an extract of the review conclusion:
“Although it’s a bit thicker than other ultra-compact cameras, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N1 takes advantage of that extra room by packing an ultra large LCD display, more powerful flash, and superb battery life into its metal body. Throw in limited manual controls, a nice movie mode, and great picture quality and the DSC-N1 is easy to recommend. […]
Camera performance was very good in most areas. […]
Photo quality on the camera was very good, assuming that you stay away from unusual lighting.”

Posted by Steve on 30th December 2005

sanyo xacti e6 reviewThe Sanyo Xacti E6 digital camera has been reviewed at Steve’s Digicams.

Here is a summary of the review results:
“The Sanyo VPC-E6 is a great digital package. I loved using it, in fact when going to family events this holiday season, it was the one I grabbed for my personal photos. Its small size allows it to be carried just about anywhere, in just about any size pocket or bag. And with good image quality and blazing fast performance, you’re sure to capture those special moments. So if you’re in the market for an ultra-compact 6-megapixel model, be sure to grab up a Sanyo E6.”

Pentax Optio S6 review at Steve’s Digicams

Posted by Steve on 30th December 2005

pentax optio s6 reviewA review of the Pentax Optio S6 digital camera has been published at Steve’s Digicams.

Here is part of the review conclusion:
“It’s not quite the performer we had hoped it wold be and like I stated above, image quality is average.
[…] We would recommend you look at some similar models like Sony’s Cyber-shot P200, Casio’s Exilim EX-Z750 or Canon’s PowerShot SD550 […]. All of these will offer you better image quality and performance, but still allow you to tuck it away in almost any size pocket or purse.”

kodak easyshare p880 reviewA review of the Kodak EasyShare P880 digital camera is available at DCRP.

Here is an extract of the review results:
“[…] The P880 is one of only three cameras with a 24 mm lens. If you take interior or landscape photos then you’ll love this lens! […]
While [beginners] will enjoy the automatic shooting and movie modes on the camera, there’s plenty for the power users here too. These features include full manual exposure controls, custom white balance with a fine-tuning feature, customizable buttons, and support for the RAW image format. […]
Photo quality on the P880 was very good. […]
If you want more wide-angle in your life, you should definitely take a look at this camera.”

Canon Powershot S80 review at LetsGoDigital

Posted by Steve on 24th December 2005

Canon Powershot S80 reviewThe Canon Powershot S80 digital camera has been reviewed at LetsGoDigital.

Here is part of the review results:
“All in all the Canon PowerShot S80 is an extremely interesting digital camera. It seems a rather stubborn one, but definitely one that proves itself worthy. The PowerShot S80 is found on the top in its price range. Most changes compared to the S70 are for the user’s benefit. A few minor changes (like the return of RAW format!) and the Canon PowerShot S80 will be one of the best versatile digital cameras currently available; it’s absolutely a recommendable camera!”

Olympus SP-350 review at Steve’s Digicams

Posted by Steve on 23rd December 2005

olympus sp 350 reviewA review of the Olympus SP-350 digital camera is available at Steve’s Digicams.

Here is part of the review conclusion:
“Bottom line - the Olympus SP-350 was a mixed bag. We loved its ergonomics, image quality, and versatile exposure modes, but the slower than average shooting performance and poor battery life forces us to ask you to consider other models. While we can’t prove this, we feel its shooting performance suffers due to the very slow recording xD-Picture Card media.”

Olympus SP-310 review at Steve’s Digicams

Posted by Steve on 23rd December 2005

Olympus SP 310 reviewSteve’s Digicams has published a review of the Olympus SP-310 digital camera.

The opinion of the reviewer:
“Bottom line - just like the SP-350, the Olympus SP-310 was disappointing. When we first saw the specs of this model, it looked very appealing. And we loved its ergonomics, image quality, and versatile exposure modes. However the poor shooting performance and short battery life really brings it down and it is very hard for us to recommend this model.”

Kodak EasyShare P850 review at imaging resource

Posted by Steve on 23rd December 2005

kodak easyshare p850 reviewA review of the Kodak EasyShare P850 digital camera has been posted at imaging resource.

Here is part of the review conclusion:
“[…] The new P850 offers a wide range of exposure and creative control […] but also maintains a healthy selection of automatic and preset shooting modes for novices. […]
The camera’s 5.0-megapixel (effective) CCD captures high resolution images, and its image-stabilized 12x optical zoom is a nice bonus as well. […]
The P850 does indeed combine ease of use with a long zoom and advanced features […]. Overall, an excellent choice for stable long-telephoto shots in daylight, but not a good solution if you frequently need to shoot under dimmer interior lighting.”
